The main character is a Quebecois woman who is sentenced to seven years in prison for the attempted murder of her father. The series shows her involvement with her family and a special friend, and their interactions with the prison staff. It also develops stories of some of her fellow prisoners, and shows some of the relationships between prisoners, and between prisoners, guards and other prison staff.
